Planets that cause obstacles for the native in his /her birth chart called a maraka planet. These planets are the specific ruler of a certain house which brings about the great struggle. Mahadasha of maraka planets brings great trouble in native’s life. The same ascendant for different people will give different results in the mahadahsa period of the maraka planet. Maraka planets causing trouble when it has conjunction with the 9th lord. Being in a bad house, education becomes very hard or shows education will be no use to the person.
How to look for maraka planets in your horoscope?
Check what is nature of your zodiac signs because movable sign ascendant will have a different placement of Maraka planet houses vs. fixed or dual.
Movable Ascendants are: Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn
Fixed Ascendant are: Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius
Dual Ascendants are: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces
For all movable ascendants, the maraka planet house will be the 11th house and its lord, that means: for Cancer ascendant it will be Taurus (ruler-Venus), for Libra ascendant it will be Leo (ruler-Sun), for Capricorn ascendant it will be Scorpio (ruler-Mars)
Fixed the maraka will occur as the 9th house lord: Taurus = Capricorn (ruler is Saturn), Scorpio = Cancer (ruler is Moon), Aquarius = Libra ( ruler is Venus)
Dual ascendant maraka will occur as 7th house lord: Gemini = Sagittarius (ruler is Jupiter), Virgo= Pisces (ruler is Jupiter), and Pisces = Virgo (ruler is Mercury), Sagittarius – Gemini (ruler is Mercury).
The question now is does maraka planets cause any issues or problems? The answer is yes, they can but not in a way you think. If for Aquarius ascendant the 9th lord Venus sitting in the 7th house shows that one will not get any benefit from higher education, not only because Venus is a maraka planet, but it’s sitting in the dealing with others house which is 7th house. If Venus as the 9th lord for Aquarius is sitting in the 9th or the 5th house itself, it’s not restricting the native from receiving from benefiting from higher education, rather bringing distraction from or through women that may cause obstacles for the native. If Venus is in the 8th house then it is a problem for attaining higher education as the 8th house is a maraka house, dushtana house where 9th lord Venus came to die. What Venus is now doing is bringing sudden transformation towards the real Venus things like cinema, entertainment, love, etc.
If a maraka planet is posited well in the horoscope then the restriction is not there to the extent but it will be there, however, if such a planet is debilitated to an exact degree or ill-positioned due to aspect or conjunction then there will be a lot of blockage towards that house. This planet simply shows us where to break boundaries and where our challenge lies in this life, just like Rahu or Saturn!
